System trading is known by several different name - mechanical, automatic, and
automated are just a few but it all means the same thing; trades that are automatically
entered using a predetermined usually math based model. The mechanics of system
trading is easy to understand. Once a model is selected, trades are automatically
entered as signaled by the trading system.
System trading has several benefits that appeals to traders. It allows a trader, who may
not have either the experience or time, to be actively involved in the commodity
futures market. System trading does reduce trading decisions to a sterile methodology
eliminating the human emotion. Those that elect to use a mechanical trading system
are hopeful that by eliminating human emotion and using a math based system that the
odds of success are enhanced. While there are benefits to mechanical trading, anyone
selecting this style of trading must also be aware that given certain market conditions
the activity can be quite high.
Even though the trades are automatically entered, those electing to use mechanical
systems remain fully informed and in control by simply checking the account on line.
There are those that elect to use a mechanical system and utilize the talents of an
individual broker to help oversee the account. The broker can help in oversight and
communicating with the client and the system managers.
Like other methods of futures involvement, mechanical trading is not for everyone,
however if one finds the notion appealing, we would like to introduce you to our
